New research indicates that three personality traits help people live a full, vibrant life even with a condition that causes chronic pain. The personality traits are 1) optimism, 2) a sense of purpose, and 3) pain acceptance.
Optimism: Optimism is key because having a hopeful outlook on your condition makes your brain release powerful drugs called endorphins that decrease the brain's experience of pain.
